On the bottom of this post are several files that may be helpful, including the Powerpoint on Congress that you’ve seen this week in class. You haven’t seen all of it yet, so don’t worry if the “How a bill becomes a law” or “Post 9/11 Congress” sections do not look familiar.

Your quiz is on the first 2/3 of the chapter, which covers the organization and structure of Congress, Congress vs. Parliament, the Evolution of Congress (know who has power in the different eras), the demographics of Congress (see additional attachment below for the 111th Congress), the Representational/Organizational/Attitudinal view of representation, party organization in Congress (including the differences in structure between the House and Senate) , party strength and unity, caucuses, and the Committee system (including power, organization, and committee staffs). Yes, that is a lot. Please read the chapter closely, be sure you understand the vocabulary from the Congress Questions sheet, and review the powerpoint notes. If you have questions, shoot me an email. I will be checking (even though I’ll be out for the next week or so).
